Museum Steinau

the "Museum Steinau" shows the history of the city as a history, depended of the road between Frankfurt and Leipzig, the two big cities with trading fairs in the german empire. All the people, beggars and whores, salesmen and artists, philosophers and kings used this road and visited Steinau. They had to use the guest-houses in former times and they had to spend a lot of time for the travel. Travelling in in former times was every time an adventure and a lot of people had to work for this adventure (so the blacksmith and a lot of other professionals had their workshops in Steinau) This is all shown in the Museum Steinau. A special exhibition shows the pottery, made in Steinau and the surounding since medieval times. Opening hours From the 2th of January to the 20rd of December 2009, daily from 12h00 to 17h00. Guided tours Bookings of guided tours at the tourist office are possible all year round. The tour lasts for about 1 hour, the price is ? 33,00 plus ? 1,50 entrance fee per aduld or ? 1,00 per child.
